Hey! I’m Ryan Connors. My job doing social media posts for U.S. News & World Report is on ice right now, and I don’t know when or even if it’s coming back.

So this is the perfect time to start something I’ve been meaning to do for a while: a newsletter about college sports! It’ll probably be mostly about college football for now, but I’ll likely incorporate women’s and men’s college basketball and maybe even some NFL into the mix later on. And it’ll be free, so you should subscribe! I’m also pretty sure there are no other newsletters about college sports, or newsletters about sports, or even any other newsletters at all, anywhere, by anyone. So you might as well subscribe to this one.

Here’s what you, a reader, can hope to get out of this:

  1. Fun blog posts! A few per week. Some will be short. Some might be longer. There will be GIFs, and also typos. While this time would usually be devoted to previewing the upcoming college football season, that doesn’t make sense right now. We don’t know if the season is even going to happen (I think it probably isn’t going to happen). But there will be sports again someday, and if you’re like me you’ve ran out of literally anything else to talk about, so we can still discuss what will happen when play resumes. I plan on keeping up with this newsletter even when I find full-time employment again.

  2. A live updating resume of sorts. This project will also give you look at what I’d bring to the table if you want to hire me as an engagement editor, social media producer, writer or editor, or even if you just want to give me freelance work (assuming companies eventually have freelance budgets again). I’m hoping I get to go back to my job at U.S. News & World Report, but nothing’s guaranteed there. This newsletter will let me do something productive while I figure things out and will still be fun once I do. This means:

    • If you want to pay me to write for your website, this newsletter should give you a good look at what I can do.

    • An Instagram account! Instagram had been taking up an increasingly large amount of my days at U.S. News, and designing posts was something I was getting good at. So I’ll continue to do that here. Stories will be designed with social graphics in mind. If you’re someone who needs a social media producer or engagement editor or anything like that, the social media part of this newsletter should be something you can look at and say, “Wow, I’d like my company to do that.” Here’s that link again. I’ll also be tweeting this newsletter out from my own account. You should follow me there.

I think you’ll like what you find here. And if you do, I’d sure love it if you told your friends about it.

Let's do some blogs about sports. Mostly college football and basketball, at least for now.
